Boss DR-220
The Boss DR-220 is a series of 2 budget digital drum machines developed and manufactured by Boss Corporation, a subsidiary of Roland Corporation, in 1985. The first drum machine, the Boss DR-220A ("A" for "acoustic"), had acoustic drum kit samples while the other one, the Boss DR-220E ("E" for "electric"), had electronic drum kit samples which were extremely similar to the much earlier Simmons SDS-V from 1981, which was the first electronic drum kit available. ==Boss DR-220A== This drum machine had acoustic drum kit samples. Like the other one of the series, the drum machine had Roland's famous Matrix Display, which was put into almost all of Roland's and Boss' drum machines starting from the Roland TR-707 in 1984. It had 12 pads for 11 drum sounds (the 12th one was for accessing the setting functions). It is able to run on batteries or using the standard-at-the-time Roland AC adapter. The adapter also works on a Roland TR-505 from 1986, a Roland D-5 synthesizer from 1989, and a Roland RS-5 synthesizer from the mid-2000s.
